My strong advice is to download the trial and give it a try. However, I do know that the Win version is getting a spruce up. The Mac version is currently better than the Windows version. It has some idiosyncrasies but I've been using it literally for years and have never had an issue with Dropbox. They are backed up to Dropbox and time machine. I have a Scrivener project for each story/item. I don't write in a linear way, that is, I'm all over the place and Scrivener lets me do this easily and without drama. I've been using it since Scrivener Gold (the free version Keith made for himself before the rest of the world "discovered" it). Scrivener is NOT a word processor (I'll just say that again, because so many people seem to get upset that it can't do some things that Word can). This could work out way cheaper than other options. It's a "buy it" product (not sure of the right word) rather than a subscription service. The construction of the Scrivener "file" is sometimes not conducive, or even downright dangerous, in these services. If you're committed to using iCloud, the google-y cloud or Microsoft cloud service you might find it not your cuppa. your excellent novel, and allowing you to move stuff around, add key words, idea cards (not their real name), synopsis etc. ![]() Scrivener is great for putting together a manuscript e.g. So if you are obsessed about formatting every paragraph as you go, then you might not be happy.
